The Do Dham Yatra from Delhi is a profound spiritual circuit covering the four sacred shrines in Uttarakhand: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Starting from the capital offers the best connectivity and a gradual ascent into the Himalayas.

Itinerary

  • Morning: Pickup from Dehradun Airport (Jolly Grant) or Railway Station. Drive to Haridwar and check into your hotel.
  • ​Evening: Visit Har Ki Pauri for the world-famous Ganga Aarti. Explore the local spiritual markets.
  • ​Stay: Haridwar (Night 1)
  • ​Activity: A long but scenic drive. En route, see the Devprayag Sangam (where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet to form the Ganga).
  • ​Evening: Arrive in Guptkashi, located on the way to Kedarnath. Check-in and rest.
  • ​Stay: Guptkashi (Night 2)
  • Morning: Drive to Sonprayag/Gaurikund. Start the trek to Kedarnath Temple (by foot, pony, or doli).
  • ​Alternative: If you have booked a helicopter, you will fly from helipads in Guptkashi, Phata, or Sirsi.
  • ​Evening: Attend the evening Aarti at the Kedarnath shrine.
  • ​Stay: Kedarnath (Night 3) — Note: Accommodations near the temple are very basic/Dharamshalas.
  • ​Morning: Early morning Darshan/Abhishek. Trek back down to Gaurikund.
  • ​Evening: Drive back to Guptkashi to recover from the physical exertion of the trek.
  • ​Stay: Guptkashi (Night 4)
  • Activity: Drive towards Badrinath. You will pass through the beautiful Mandakini valley and the town of Chopta (if the route is clear).
  • ​Evening: Reach Pipalkoti, a quiet and comfortable town that serves as an excellent base before heading to Badrinath.
  • ​Stay: Pipalkoti (Night 5)
  • ​Morning: Drive to Badrinath Temple. Take a holy dip in the Tapt Kund (natural hot spring) before entering the temple for Darshan.
  • ​Afternoon: Visit Mana Village (the last Indian village), Bheem Pul, and the Vyas Gufa.
  • ​Evening: Return to Pipalkoti for a comfortable night’s stay.
  • ​Stay: Pipalkoti (Night 6)
  • ​Activity: Drive back towards Haridwar. En route, visit Rishikesh—explore the Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, and the various Ashrams.
  • ​Stay: Haridwar (Night 7)
  • ​Morning: After breakfast, drive back to Dehradun.
  • ​Drop-off: Transfer to Dehradun Airport or Railway Station for your return journey.
