The Char Dham Yatra from Delhi is a profound spiritual circuit covering the four sacred shrines in Uttarakhand: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Starting from the capital offers the best connectivity and a gradual ascent into the Himalayas.

Itinerary

  • Activities: Arrive at Delhi Airport/Railway Station. Transfer to your hotel.
  • Sightseeing: Depending on arrival time, visit local landmarks like India Gate or Akshardham Temple.
  • Stay: Delhi (1st Night)
  • Activities: Drive to Haridwar, the “Gateway to the Gods.” Check into your hotel.
  • Evening: Witness the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri.
  • Stay: Haridwar (2nd Night)
  • Activities: Drive to Barkot via Mussoorie. En route, visit the famous Kempty Falls.
  • Note: Barkot is the base for Yamunotri. Spend the evening relaxing to prepare for the trek.
  • Stay: Barkot (3rd Night)
  • Activities: Early morning drive to Janki Chatti. Start the 6 km trek to Yamunotri Temple (by walk, pony, or doli).
  • Rituals: Take a holy dip in Surya Kund (hot spring) and offer prayers at the temple. Return to Barkot by evening.
  • Stay: Barkot (4th Night)
  • Activities: Scenic drive to Uttarkashi on the banks of the Bhagirathi River.
  • Sightseeing: Visit the ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Shakti Temple.
  • Stay: Uttarkashi (5th Night)
  • Activities: Full-day excursion to Gangotri Temple. En route, stop at Gangnani to bathe in the natural hot springs.
  • Rituals: Perform Pooja at the shrine and enjoy the serene Himalayan views. Drive back to Uttarkashi.
  • Stay: Uttarkashi (6th Night)
  • Activities: A long, beautiful drive through the mountains, crossing the Mandakini River.
  • Sightseeing: En route, see the confluence at Tilwara. Check into your hotel in Guptkashi.
  • Stay: Guptkashi (7th Night)
  • Activities: Drive to Sonprayag/Gaurikund. Begin the trek to Kedarnath Temple.
  • Evening: Attend the evening Aarti at one of the 12 Jyotirlingas.
  • Stay: Kedarnath (8th Night) — Note: Basic accommodation near the temple.
  • Activities: Early morning Darshan. Trek back down to Gaurikund and drive back to Guptkashi to rest.
  • Stay: Guptkashi (9th Night)
  • Activities: Drive towards Badrinath, stopping at Pipalkoti. This serves as a gateway for the final Dham.
  • Stay: Pipalkoti (10th Night)
  • Activities: Drive to Badrinath Temple. Visit Mana Village (the last Indian village), Bheem Pul, and Vyas Gufa.
  • Rituals: Take a dip in Tapt Kund before Darshan. Return to Pipalkoti for the night.
  • Stay: Pipalkoti (11th Night)
  • Activities: Return drive to Haridwar. En route, stop at Rishikesh to visit Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula.
  • Stay: Haridwar (12th Night)
  • Activities: Morning breakfast and drive back to Delhi. Drop-off at the Airport or Railway Station for your journey home.
